I just left a job where I was a nanny to a 7-year old, a 5-year-old, and a 2-year-old. They had limits and rules and a daily schedule with the perfect amount of flexibility. It made everything so much more manageable.
I was just wondering how much notice parents give you if you have to babysit? Also do we all have the choice to say no? I'm live in, i have set hours, get a set salary each week and i don't get paid for babysitting as the kids go to school during the day so i don't work then. Recently the parents have been asking me to babysit either the day before and more recently on the day of babysitting, sometimes even on the night of. It doesn't say in my contract how much notice they should give or if i can say no. I feel that i can't arrange any plans with friends incase i'm asked last minute.
So glad I found this space!
First: I adore the baby... I do everything with him and he is just 3 months! read, play, exercise, milk him, bath, dippers... etc,
I was told I will work 5 days per week max 50 hours, mom and dad when are home always want to be with him, grandma is pretty involve: so you will have time of and we don't want you working 24 hours.
their schedule is crazy! mommy work all night so she leave at 6pm come back 8:30 am! dad works all day lets say 8am-8pm so...
I babysit 3 days a week for 2 kids, a 11 year old boy and his 10 year old sister. I pick up the 10 year old after school and stay with them until their Mom comes home from work. I don't have any major complaints about this job- they pay me extremely well, the parents are nice, the kids are okay. I'm a college student, and I started with them at the beginning of the semester. I also work another job at my school's bookstore, and my schedule next semester is going to be very busy.
So I came across a listing close to my city for childcare and it reads as follows: We are looking for someone to babysit two children overnights Monday thru Friday night from about 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. (on Fridays 8 p.m. until 10 a.m. ). My husband works overnight and I (unfortunately) am active duty military stationed in DC this year. I have two boys, a 12-year-old and a 2-year-old. The only requirement/request we have is for the baby to be dropped off at daycare in the mornings. Otherwise my husband does all the cooking and cleaning.
