MB talking behind my back

I have Been nannying part time for a family for 2 years. I have Grown with their family and shared the joys with them when they had a new baby. Today like usual i was Watching the kids and like usual MB was running late. MB texts to let me know she is on her way home and asked if the kids are asleep. I explain That one is having a bad day and I’ve tried to put the child to sleep twice with no luck.... she texts back (but didn’t mean to text this to me) “she is so weird, she just bitches to me me about my kids” do i continue To work for them? Is it time for me to quit? I feel So many emotions. She apologized profusely and we talked about it a little bit when she got home and she kept apologizing. I called My parents and they said they think i should Quit. I do Babysitting and other part time work on the side but this family is 25% of my income. What do you think? Did she cross a line or am i overreacting?

I wouldn't quit right away till after I found another position, but I'd start looking now and quit after I found one. That's ridiculous for her to talk about you like that- so disrespectful

That would make me quit. Everyone should vent every once in a while but unfortunately she messed up. If I were you I would be looking for another NF but if you think this is something you and Mb can move past in a professinal way then it's up to you if you want to stay with them. This might open up communication with mb better but it is also possible that she doesn't respect how you think you should communicate with her.

Quit. Idc how much she apologized. As soon as she walked in the door i would’ve told her i was done. She’s is not the only mother in the world who needs childcare. She’s only sorry bc you saw the message, imagine what else she’s said about you behind your back? I wouldn’t even feel comfortable after that. Sometimes these parents think they can do and say what they want!
You can def find something else!
Good luck!

Tricky one! I would be hurt and tempted to quit. Then again, she may have had a bad, stressful day and let off steam to what she thought was her friend. Still would make me question the relationship. I have just walked out of a 2 1/2 year job, because I got the vibes that the mother felt very negatively towards me. She also was passive aggressive, sweet to my face, but subtly putting me down a lot, correcting my English (I'm German), showing me how to get a child out of a high chair properly (honestly!! I've raised my own daughter and granddaughter, have lots of child care experience) and the list goes on. I'm left with a shaken self esteem and had to leave, or else I would have lost all dignity. Sorry about the waffle and coming off subject, it's pretty raw, just happened. Do you think you can put her rant behind you, let it go as a one off or do you think the trust has gone? You have a lot on your plate with her children and she should show respect and appreciation for the HARD and IMPORTANT job you're doing!! Best of luck and please look after yourself!
