Vomit

The family I nanny for all managed to get sick over the weekend. :/ when I came in Monday I found a puke bucket near the bathtub in the kids bathroom... I was told to leave that they would take care if it... today (Tuesday) I've come in and see the vomit bucket in their kitchen sink with just a small amount of soap and water in it still w vomit all down the side- sorry gross I know- was this left for me to clean?! So I have to do dishes still ... I have no gloves or mask and not only is the bucket a problem, the children's toilet still has puke all over the seat.
I feel a lack of respect for me as their nanny ... I sure as heck don't want to be exposed to this nor should I be the one to clean up a mess that's happened over the weekend.
I've since removed the bucket and put outside.
Just curious what others opinions are on the matter.
No doubt if the children had been w me at the time they got sick I would take care of thjngs but this was over the weekend and yet the clean up still hasn't occurred. Honestly I'd rather stay home until they disinfect!

Absolutely DONT clean it. You already removed the bucket so you can do dishes and I would tell them just that and also do not clean the bathroom. Have the kids use a different one. I would also inform the parents when they get home that you will not return until everything has been cleaned and disinfected bc you don't want to get sick.

Ya I didn't clean just left the bucket outside.. the maid came today and cleaned the toilet seat. Just find it incredibly rude of them. Inconsiderate for others health... blows my mind as my boss is a pediatric surgeon... you'd think disinfecting would be priority ... thx for your response!

I've never had a "I don't work with sick children" policy, usually because I only work for one family but I completely agree that you should NOT be cleaning up the puke from the weekend. Have a chat about the messes and remind them they happened over the weekend and still need to be addressed.

I'd definitely keep up on your hand washing and limit contact with their bodies/fluids as much as possible. I myself have just come down with a sudden food poisoning while DB is out of town... It's a fun ride. I will definitely be calling in even if only for a day of rest once he's back. Until then it's survival mode.

Oh I work when they're sick... for the most part, everyone was back in school Monday just the mess was still
Sitting around. Ya I didn't clean just left the bucket outside.. the maid came today and cleaned the toilet seat. Just find it incredibly rude of them. I do shares in large part because I won't work with pukey kids. Colds, I'll do, but fever, vomiting or diarrhea? No way, Jose!
